Wellandvale Support Page
Dedicated to the building of Canada's first urban whitewater facility in St. Catharines, Ontario.
These pages hosted and maintained by the NWPA and kayaknews.ca
When the city of Toronto was bidding for the 2008 Summer Games, the preferred
site to stage the whitewater kayaking events was the Wellandvale stretch of Twelve
Mile Creek, in St. Catharines, Ontario. The official plan called for the construction of Canada's first urban
whitewater facility.
When Toronto lost the bid, plans for the facility faultered, but support still
exists for the facility to be made. The Niagara Whitewater Park Association was
formed by a group of local paddlers and business people to ensure that the
facility becomes a reality.
This section is currently hosted by kayaknews.ca on behalf of the
Niagara Whitewater Park Association.
