The Kippawa River's Broken Bridge Wave got its name from - you guessed it - a washed out bridge. A couple of years ago the bridge was rebuilt, changing the features of the waves. At low levels, you can catch the front wave by entering from the river right eddy and paddling hard. As the levels go up, it's sweet surfing on a glassy wave that's roomy enough for 3 boats. Here's Jeff Walton getting a feel for Broken Bridge at about 40. 80 to 150 is prime surfing but Jeff doesn't seem to be complaining.
