The Wellandvale stretch of Twelve Mile Creek in St. Catharines has a constant supply of surging water. Numerous waves on river right offer good surfs for strong paddlers. Entry is via the eddy close against the wall. In the dark ages, boaters used to get ticketed for paddling these 'dangerous' waters. In reality, it's deep water with no consequences below. However, a large wier 500 ft upriver of this section is very nasty, to say the least - stay downriver and live to paddle another day.
