Perception: Lucid

specs:
length width vol. weight cockpit capacity material 1st yr last yr:
7 ft 3 25.00 in n/a 31.50 lbs 33.50 by 19.00 160 to 220 lbs n/a 2002 n/a

Main use: playboat

Perception's take:
A breakthrough in kayak design for the larger paddlers among us. The Lucid™ is not (we repeat - is not) a scaled-up version of a smaller boat. It is the first boat ever developed specifically for the giants among us. Even if you weigh 220, you can still throw your weight around and pull aerial blunts with ease. In fact, it goes vertical and stays vertical better than any other boat made for big guys and girls. Plus, the high-deck knee position lets you stay in the hole for maximum retention. Go ahead and pinch yourself. It is not a dream. You are completely Lucid.

(enjoys mostly playboating and rates this boat 10 /10)
pros:super slicey, easy to keep on bow, loads of foot room, comfortable, easy to keep on the stern and even looks nice!
cons:backrest system needs work, theres no thigh braces, maybe a little too much room. the bow burries alot therefor long distance is not best.
other:being on the weight boundary at 220 lbs i was able to really test this boat to its limit. i found it to be on of the most easily vertical going boats that i have paddled. i found that the boat i was paddleing had no footrests or thiegh braces so i was forever falling about inside the boat.my size 13 feet were not a problem at all which i found quite supprising as the ends are very low in volume. i only had about half an hour with this cartwheel machine and was fairly impressed with its overall performance. due to its huge dip in the bow this 7.3f beauty was very stable once on end. my weight played a big part in this as i am able to through it around easily. i only got to paddle this on a small wier so massive moves were out of the question but i still had enough hull speed to pull off a few small blunts, cartwheels and splats. all the rest of my time was devoted to flat water stuff like flatwheels, big stalls and the odd flat water cartwheel. overall i found this boat a joy but does need work on areas such as backrest system, thigh braces and a water release bung would not go a miss!

pros:ok it says the weight limit is 160-220...i'm 130lbs and i found this boat extremely fun and enjoyable...comfort is a big plus and it is not difficult to get it vericle for someone of my size...i think this boat can be used for smaller people too
cons:there is no outfitting...so u have to do it youself and there is really no thigh braces so u have to find a way to pad that.
other:over all great boat beside the front is kinda catchy

(enjoys mostly river running and rates this boat 9 /10)
pros:this is a fun boat to play around in, in my mind. granted, i have only paddled a handful of other boats, but this is great for cartwheels, cleans/mr. cleans/super clean, mostly cause it is about as slicey as possible. that said.....
cons:most people will find this an entirely different boat than others. you might find it harder to roll than some others, and when surfing, the handles, which ARE comfortable are about perfectly designed to spray you in the face.
other:outfitting this boat for your body is a necessity, not a option. it is pretty big inside, so it is very comfortable, but if you relax for a second, you could actually fall out. foot bumps and then some foam in the bow would be a good idea.
